Should I Hire a Professional Window Cleaning Company?

Contemplating whether to DIY or employ a window cleaner? Here are some suggestions to help you make up your mind.

Clean windows can make your house brighter and enhance its total appearance.

Sheila Smeltzer, owner of A+ Pro Window Services points out that a window cleaning company can detect early possible dangerous problems and issues with your windows.

Here are some reasons you should consider working with an expert window cleaning service to keep your windows functioning properly and letting the sun shine in.

Conserving time

Cleaning your windows can be a time-consuming project, states Ms. Smeltzer. “We can finish a job that would take a property owner 5 hours in less than half the time.”

Identifying general issues

A professional window washer can spot potential problems like screens that don’t fit the window, windows that can’t be opened because the windows that are painted shut or wood rot on windowsills, or other damage to the windows that prevent you from using them properly. Spotting the issues early can potentially save you an expense later on.

Eliminating insect problems

Wasps, hornets and bees often build nests behind window shutters Wasps in particular can construct paper nests between the sections of a storm window. Other insects such as ladybugs can build a nest in channels, making the windows difficult to open or operate.

Extending the life of a window

Similar to deposits in your shower, aluminum screens which are old and left in place for years slowly etch a pattern of deposits on the glass. The etched glass is not only unattractive, but it is more vulnerable to fractures and chips.

An expert window washer can restore the glass and extend your window’s life with a treatment of muriatic acid.

Offering the right window cleaning supplies and tools

Professional window cleaners can guarantee that the right products are utilized to clean the glass in windows that are environmentally friendly without damaging the glass.

If you have stained or leaded glass, you may be unintentionally damaging it using a window cleaner that is ammonia-based. With extended use, this type of cleaner can cloud the glass windows, and the damage cannot be repaired.

Expert window washers likewise have the best equipment, such as ladders with grips, extension hoses and telescoping window-washing tools, to securely clean hard-to-reach windows on second floors or high ceilings.

Ways To Prevent Rain Spotting On Windows

window cleaningWays To Prevent Rain Spotting On Windows

Filthy windows let raindrops absorb dust, dirt, and pollen, which eventually leaves dirty spots on the windows once the rain dries. Acid rain may also leave behind irregular spotting from the raindrops that splash against the window panes. The precipitation from the acid rain has potentially dangerous levels of sulfuric and nitric acid. The good thing is that there are ways to prevent this from happening so that your windows remain cleaner and less susceptible to rain spotting. Of course, you have the option to hire professional window cleaners to help you out.

Provided below are some simple tips to stop rain water on windows. You will need a few materials like:

  •  Vinegar
  •  Water
  •  Sponge
  •  Squeegee
  •  Glass sealant

Listed here are the preventive measures that you can follow:

  1. Clean up your windows. Mix up equal parts of warm water and vinegar in a five gallon bucket. Immerse a big sponge into the water-vinegar solution until it becomes saturated. Scrub one window gently using a circular movement. Begin at the top and then work your way down the bottom.
  2. Soak your squeegee in water. Begin at the upper corner part of the window and then swipe it horizontally on the top part of the window. Create vertical swipes for the remaining parts of the windows up until you are on the swipe, which should be made horizontally across the bottom part of the window.
  3. Repeat the process for all the windows in your home. Be sure to clean one window at a time so that the cleaning solution will not dry on the windows. If the cleaning solution starts to become filthy, you have to replace it with a new mix of warm water and vinegar. This is very important when it comes to window cleaning.
  4. Put a glass sealant to create an invisible barrier between dirt, dust, and other pollutants as well as the surface of the window. This will make your window a lot cleaner for a longer period of time and it will also protect them from water spotting. There are certain glass sealants that can be applied directly to your windows through spraying. It provides protection to your windows for as long as one year. Be sure to check the manufacturer’s recommendations for certain product application as well as general information. Obviously, nothing compares to the quality of cleaning offered by Myrtle Beach window cleaners like A+ Pro Services. If you have no time to do this on your own or you just don’t want to, you can always hire a window cleaning service.

Call A+ Pro Services Inc. if you want your windows to be cleaned and maintained by professional window cleaners.

Window Treatments To Help You Survive The Summer

window treatmentsWindow Treatments To Help You Survive The Summer

Too much exposure to sunlight can be detrimental to your health in many ways. To avoid its harsh effects, the simplest way is to confine yourself to your home and turn up the air conditioner at its maximum. This may be good as a temporary solution, however, you need to consider the rays of the sun that tries to sneak in your house through your Myrtle Beach windows and doors.

The heat that gets inside your home through the windows increases the workload of your air conditioner by twofold. About 76% of the sunlight that gets inside your home through typical double pane windows are transformed into heat. During summer, your home’s windows can make your house feel like your inside a greenhouse.

Block The Heat With Blinds

We know very well that most homeowners decorate their windows using beautiful curtains as well as drapes to improve the visual appeal of their houses. However, they should also think about how those window accessories can help in reducing energy bills during summer. The United States Department of Energy says that two medium shape drapes that come with the right liner can lower the heat gain by around 33%.

Summer Window Treatments

To assist you in your fight against the heat and help you in your effort to reduce your energy bills, here are some tips that can help you block the heat from your windows. Aside from the nuisance and discomfort, the sunlight getting inside your home through your windows and doors can disrupt your power naps in the afternoon. It may also have an effect on your wellness. Therefore, if the summer heat knocks on your door, you can counter it by using the best window coverings.

Interior Window Treatments To Keep The Sunlight Out

The Best Shades For Your Home’s Windows

One of the most efficient ways of saving electricity is the use of shades. They can efficiently block heat and also reflect the sunlight back. This option is affordable but requires correct installation if you wish to enjoy the many benefits that shades have to offer. If you mount them too close to the glass can create a sealed space that can obstruct sunlight. A few of the best window shade options to help keep the heat out are as follows:

Reversible Shades – One of the best ways when it comes to blocking heat from windows are the reversible shades. They offer lots of advantages. Reversible shades are light colored on one side and dark colored on the other. You can switch them based on the weather outdoors.

Roller and Roman Shades – this option is affordable. Roller shades come with a roller bar that is placed on top of the window. Meanwhile, roman shades are manufactured from fabric and equally made into a series of folds. These shades can be obtained in different weaves, fabrics, and colors. Pick a heavier cloth to assist you in controlling the amount of heat, light, and privacy that is entering your home.

Exterior Solar Shades For Your Patio Doors – solar shades are great options when it comes to your patio doors. But be sure to get those that are made of great quality screen materials. They are low maintenance and durable. Additionally, they decrease the glare and they are also great in blocking UV rays so as not to disrupt your home’s temperature. They have a very sleek and tidy appearance that can keep the view and decrease the glare. They are easy to install and once done, they will filter the harsh rays of the sun. They are one of the best options when it comes to blocking heat from your windows and keeping the view.

Cellular Shades or Honeycomb Shades – they are tiny hexagonal channels that can improve the insulation of your home by trapping heat. This type of shades are energy efficient and noise dampening thanks to their honeycomb fabric. Because of this, professionals say that cellular  shades can reduce the solar heat that goes inside your home by around 80% or more if they are installed tightly.

Blinds That Block Heat And Light

You can adjust the blind’s slats if you wish to regulate the ventilation and light in the room. The Department of Energy said that high reflection blinds can reduce heat gain by around 45% provided that they are closed tightly. Even though exterior blinds are far more efficient compared to the interior ones, it is difficult to install to an existing window. They work best with newly built houses and they can block the heat even before it goes inside the room. When installed correctly, interior blinds can be utilized to reflect the sunlight to the ceiling, thus scattering the light without worrying about too much heat inside the room. In case your windows are facing a lot of sunlight during the day, the best window treatments for you are blinds.

Curtains and Drapes

Curtains and drapes are also great ways to obstruct the heat from the sun. Even though their ability to regulate heat is based on the fabric used to make them, experts think that medium colored draperies that come with liners can decrease the heat by a minimum of 33%. A cornice can be set up on top of the drapery to assist in blocking the sunlight from getting inside the house. You should also consider hanging a couple of drapery panels and install them closer to the windows. They will produce tighter airspace and hinder the outside heat from getting inside the house while providing better light control, decorative, and privacy options.

Exterior Window Treatments

Exterior shades and shutters – among the finest methods to block heat from your windows are exterior shades and shutter. They are very effective in decreasing solar heat gain. They are made of steel, wood, fabric, vinyl, or aluminum. When buying them for your home, be sure that the material has tiny openings for higher resistance to heat. They are available in different materials and most options are operated manually. There are also those that can be opened or closed from the interior through a crack. For privacy, safety from storms as well as protection from heat, you can lower the blinds totally. You have the option to raise them partially in case you wish some light and air to get inside the house. Keep in mind that not all window treatments are ideal for exterior windows. Therefore, it is important for you to get exterior treated shades or shutters that can serve such purposes.

At A+ Pro Services, Inc, we are passionate about glass. Window Cleaning is a huge chore to most homeowners, but to us is a service that we take very seriously. Most residents build a home that is too large or too tall for them to maintain themselves.

Here are a few tips for some of the most common window cleaning situations:

Windows that constantly streak after cleaning

Window cleaning professionals use squeegees, you should too! Apply a mild soft soap solution to your glass. Dry the top or side edge of your window pane. Always pull squeegee top to bottom or side to side. Starting on dry glass is one secret to avoiding streaks or what professionals call “drag”. Though the pro’s  may be capable of cleaning windows in direct sunshine, you should avoid because your solution will quickly dry and streak.  For best results, clean cool glass. The proof is in the science.

Blinds that are always dusty

One method to keep your blinds dust free to is spray a product like Static Guard on the blinds right after cleaning. This will help to keep dust from quickly adhering to the blinds. The goal of any cleaning method is to reduce the static tension on the surface- the same is true for blinds. Always wash your blinds with a wet method (warm mild soap solution) to dissolve dust instead of dry dusting that only moves dust around and produces static.

Removing mildew on window panes

Wash with a bleach-detergent product before you clean the glass. Gray or black mildew spots on wood and vinyl frames can be cleaned up for good with a solution of 2 ounces of any type of  bleach and one ounce of any soap detergent in a quart of water. Using rubber gloves to secure your hands, sponge the service on the spots, let it sit for ten minutes, and after that rinse completely with clean water. It is important to thoroughly rinse all bleach from glass surfaces.

Cannot Keep Outside of Windows Clean

Hydrophilic coatings are created for architectural glass and designed to sheet down glass. This sheeting action will cause debris to slide off your glass with rain or hose and prevent it from beading up causing spots. Hydrophilic coatings are excellent applied to skylights.

Windows that seem to get dirty quickly

Modern Southern homes can trap pollen, dander and dust, and other particles inside than before because they are airtight. While furnace and air conditioning system filters extend the life of your HVAC system, they also assist trap that dirt and changing the filter can keep your windows and furnishing clean. Filters must be changed every month, or anytime you can’t see through the filter when you hold it up to a light. Windows that are exposed to secondhand smoke

Wash smoke streaked windows with ammonia. It’s the only thing that can remove nicotine film or other gunk. How To Clean Windows Without Streaking

window cleaning Myrtle BeachHow To Clean Windows Without Streaking

Cleaning windows without streaks is never easy. Just when you thought that you’ve given your windows a thorough cleaning, you become frustrated after seeing residue. Fortunately, there are some things you can do to clean your windows without streaking. This task is simple to do provided that you know that you are doing. Provided below are some important window cleaning tips you need to know.

The first thing you need to ask yourself is if you are using hard water. You have to be sure that you are not using hard water especially when you are using tap water when diluting the glass cleaning solution. Hard water contains minerals that can leave behind unexpected streaks. When diluting your cleaning solution, you will get clearer and cleaner result You can also use this tip when cleaning other glass surfaces such as mirrors and tabletops.

You should also think about using vinegar, which is known as a multipurpose cleaning tool. It is an effective cleaning solution that can take care of carpet stains, puppy puddles, soap scum, and get rid of dirt on glass surfaces. It is very easy to use. All you need to do is fill half of a spray bottle with vinegar and add water. Spray it on the glass surface and wipe it off with a clean cloth. If you are uncomfortable with the scent of vinegar, then you may have to find another cleaning solution. If you would like to give it a try but is afraid of its smell, you can try it first on your exterior windows. You can also try it inside if you will be away from your home for some time. You also have the option to hire a professional Myrtle Beach window cleaning company to get this done for you.

In case you do not want to use vinegar and you prefer the regular glass cleaner, be careful of the typical old soap. Sudsy soap cleaners will almost always leave streaks on your windows. You need to avoid using this if you don’t want to see any residue on your windows after wiping it clean.

The next thing you have to think about is what you are using to soak up your selected cleaning solution. Are you using paper towels? If yes, you might want to rethink this choice. Paper towels are easy to use and inexpensive. However, their plush texture often leaves behind lint and streaks. To get rid of this residue, you need to use newspapers, squeegees, or microfiber cloth. If you want to use newspaper, be sure to put on some gloves so your hands will be protected from the ink.

Don’t forget to buff all tricky spots. Rub the areas with streaks using circular and fast movements with enough pressure. The stubborn streaks will eventually disappear. But you need to be patient and you need to put in some effort. Meanwhile, a lot of homeowners think the best time for window cleaning is when the sun is out. That is actually not a good idea. Cleaning windows in warm and direct sunlight will cause the soapy water to dry on the glass prematurely, which will leave soap streaks and marks. If you do not want to go through the hassle of cleaning your windows over and over again yet still be unable to get streak free windows, the best solution is to hire professional window cleaners from A+ Pro Services Inc.

If you want to make sure that your windows are spotlessly clean and streak free, call A+ Pro Services Inc. now.
